家具多指沙發、床、桌子、衣櫥等大件物品。
柳青《銅墻鐵壁》第十八章:"一個背盒子槍和卡賓槍兩件子家具的警衛員上來了。" 家用的器具，指木器，也包括炊事用具等。是人類日常生活和社會活動中使用的具有坐臥、憑倚、貯藏、間隔等功能的器具。通常由若干個零、部件按一定接合方式裝配而成，已成為室內外裝飾的重要組成部分。北魏賈思勰《齊民要術》五種槐柳楸梓梧柞:"凡為家具者，前件木皆所宜種。"可見，自古以來，中國家具一直以木材為主要用材，主要是木家具。
家居既是物質產品，又是藝術創作，這便是人們常說的家具二重特點。
